Some see Lings as the jewel in the crown to WAC. Lings Pond originates from the old Lings Colliery which closed around 1896.
In the early 1960’s Lings became part of Williamthorpe Angling Club. The pond has been developed over the years and recently a new carpark and access road has been improved dramatically.
There are 26 pegs spaced around the pond.
The pond is around 1 acre and has depths to 8 feet; the bottom is relatively snag free and has a clay bottom.
There is one disabled peg which is the closest peg to the carpark, the carpark is big enough for 16 cars. Car parking is only allowed in the carpark provided.
Access to Lings is via the 5 bar Gate off of Chesterfield Road. Keys are available from the Membership Secretary, these are £20. The gate must be kept locked at all times. There is to be NO CLIMBING over the gate.
There is a 5 mph speed limit on the access road, please observe at all times as the wildlife such as bunnies often run across the road.
There is large variation of fish in the pond. The fish found in Lings include, Carp, Crucian Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Tench.
The catch rate in Lings is generally very good and is the easiest pond to fish. It is definitely a favourite amongst our members.
Pond open all year round.
No Carp to be kept in keepnets unless in an organised WAC match.
Fish dawn to dusk only.
MEMBERS ONLY.
STRICTLY NO DAY TICKETS.
The ever popular Wednesday night Lings matches start again on Wednesday 1st May.
This means that the pond will be closed from 3:30.
The draw will take place in the car park at 5pm, the matches will be fished from 5:30 until dusk (end times depend on light conditions).
Lings matches are members only matches, valid membership cards must be produced.
After the draw, if any pegs remain free, members will be allocated these with the organisers permission.
